Wow what an amazing night! I’m so grateful to everyone who came to support me yesterday and to the whole creative team, cast and crew for their amazing work on Floodgate. I will be forever grateful to @jess_ransom for bringing such integrity to the character and story (and agreeing to swim in the North Sea in November!) Thanks to @shakilmohammed12 and all the tutors at @nftsfilmtv and @primevideo for the opportunity, resources and access to this amazing platform.

Huge congratulations to the other 5 directors for their amazing films. I loved watching all of them on the big screen. Sharing this journey with you has made the whole process so much more special @karim4782 @ruby.abbiss @asena_nour sam.moody @kateyeahyes 🫶🏽 🎥 I’m proud of us

Last week I had my 44th Birthday and I decided to treat myself to a new Fujifilm XT-2 (with help from family Bday contributions). I took it on our family trip to Morocco to have a little play around and I love it. Just as everything that I do, I am learning by doing and am very much figuring things out as I go along but I love playing around with the colours. Any other Fujifilm owner friends who have some good tips or just want to geek out a bit with me, give me a shout!

I’ve been mostly in postproduction for my Prime Video film at @nftsfilmtv lately. Close to finishing ‘Floodgate’, my first narrative short, a poignant story of motherhood, with notes of surrealism and northern wry humour that we shot up in Whitby N.Yorkshire over 4 cold November days. I will be ready to share it with the world soon 😃 It’s been quite a journey so far. Grateful to have been working with such a wonderful creative team.

Last day of Christmas ❄️ 🌳 ☃️
Happy 2026 everyone 💫

Reflecting on 2025 I’ve had some smashing moments, working with some of the loveliest of people, which I’m grateful for. I started out in one direction with aims to make a new show and ended up with a total pivot fully immersed in my filmmaking. A reminder to stay fluid, it’s not always helpful to set specific goals for the year ahead, especially working as a creative. You never know what each day will bring (in work and life). As always, I’ll stay open to the opportunities as they come.

In 2026 I am looking forward to seeing ‘Floodgate’ on a big screen, making time for more writing, directing (of course ☺️) maybe even introducing the joy of dance back into my life, spending time by the sea and more adventures with my beautiful family. My biggest intention always, is to stay true to myself as a sensitive & creative soul, whilst trying to make a living that serves me and my family. It’s always been a tricky one to balance. 💫 I’m sure that there are so many other creative freelancers feeling the same. Let’s take the pressure off, be kind to ourselves and embrace whatever comes ☺️

The photo is of the almost full moon view from the back of my house, which sits bright in the blue sky, close to our huge ash tree. It’s cold 🥶 but beautiful ❄️
That’s a wrap #Floodgate 🤩

Today we ran our second focus group for Voices Unveiled, talking about periods, the reproductive system and girlhood. Trying to normalise talking about things that are natural, that young people often get embarrassed about or think are a bit ‘gross’. Gorgeous workshop this morning with this amazing group of women for ‘Voices Unveiled’ a collaboration with women’s health scientist @greaves.erin funded by @warwickengages

This new workshop combines science and creativity to open conversations about womanhood & female health and to inform my new solo performance piece ‘And So She Fell’
This morning was our first trial session. Things we discovered were:
-We need soooo much longer than an hr for these sessions!
- There is definitely more need for these conversations.
- Women want/need to talk about menstruation, womanhood, motherhood, aging, menopause and health related issues
- knowledge and resources need to be more accessible to everyone
- this work needs to include everyone and anyone who identifies with womanhood

Grateful for everyone who shared their words, feelings and experiences. 🫶🏽 What a beautiful way to spend an hr on a Saturday morning 🌟 Thanks to everyone who came.

Recently I took a much needed break, being given the opportunity to travel to the Caribbean for a friend’s wedding and spend time with family. It’s been so good to have some time away from the noise of the world and the industry, a bit of a reset and space to ponder about life. I feel so lucky to have had some time to travel, it’s been magical!

We went back into rehearsals last week to develop our rural touring version of ‘For The Love Of Stuff’. I was presented with technical challenges as devices seem to be dying on me, I need a new laptop and am faced with the usual financial struggles, waiting for freelance invoices to be paid but I’m trying to ride that wave without getting too stressed and for now I thought I’d share some photos of beaches, palm trees and my spangly, tropical wedding outfit to spread a bit of sunshine ☀️😜

I’m reminded that there are only really 4 things I need in life to keep me 💯 content and at peace/ THOSE THINGS ARE: Love, nature, art and a balcony 🤣 (In that order!)

“If life gives you a balcony, feed the birds” 🤩
(just made that up. I think it works)

❤️🍃🌊 🏝️🐦

The sea is through the window of the arch. We are wearing tropical print clothes, mine a tight dress with puffy sleeves. 8) rugged coast line of Barbados with small beach bars and palm trees. 9) video of small birds feeding on a wooden balcony.

We were back to Radford Rebels this evening for the start of our Winter term. It was great to get back to our creative, rebel selves! ☺️

If you have a child age 6+ who would love to join us, we have a couple of spaces so get in touch!

We move, we draw, we sing, we tell stories….. all things creative, driven by the stories the children like to tell and in whatever way they like to express themselves. Guided by professional theatre and dance practitioners.

Images: 1) a selfie of Sioda and Shanade with smiley faces, green and blue swirly make up designs, wearing one yellow and one purple flower head dress. You can also see a little bit of the dandelion flower and seed puppets in the shot and Shanade has her long brown silky hair drooped over one shoulder. 2) a full body shot of both performers wearing the same headdresses and wearing long floaty skirts, one dark green, one light yellow. Sioda has the stalk of her dandelion puppet wrapped around her body and down one leg and holds the flower up high to the left. Shanade holds a large dandelion seed puppet up and out to the right and is cocking her knee in slightly looking twee and pretty ☺️
Fresh back from @thelongroadfest where we ran workshops to make sustainable accessories for cowboy hats 🤠 We tackled some heavy rain and wind and managed to hold on to (most of) the feathers 😅 And I took my mum along to this one, we sang American Pie with Don McLean hoorah!

What a great festival it was🤩

Skip to the end for a bit of #90sTVNostalgia - who recognises the very last track??

Image: a montage of clips where Sioda wearing mint green shorts and a black baggy vest spins and twirls hanging from straps with her hands and wrists. She moves through shapes such as pike, splits (ish) and other curvy swirly shapes and spins a lot with a beaming smile on her face. It ends with Sioda on the floor looking shattered! 😅 Backdrop is chip board with a red circus sign painted on and flashing fairy lights.
Popped down to RSC today to see my old pal and fellow Northern artist @waynesables and his very cool light and sound installation.

Check it out before it leaves Stratford Upon Avon tomorrow evening! 👍🏽

An image of the Glass House in front of the RSC building taken from the park with members of public hanging out, out front. 3. Me and Wayne standing in front of the installation 4. A reflection of myself and family in the Perspex sheet that covers the Glass House structure

Use your voice people! It’s the only bit of power we have.
